encounter, at the Arnos Vale and Keatons Sporting Complex
in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the American
Federation of Netball Associations (AFNA) Tournament schedule
to commence today Saturday 19th July, 2008. Team
St. Lucia is among five other territories,

Olympian, Pole Vaulter Dominic Johnson, pulled all
strings and experience deep within on Friday 11th July at
a USATF Sanctioned meet in San Diego to do a last minute qualifying
height for this year summer Olympics Games in Beijing, China.
Dominic, who Pole Vaulted 5.55 meters or 18’2 ½’’,
With
the carnival fever up 60 notches and weather permitting the
Gros Islet Playing Field will be the venue for the 2008 Coca
Cola Mindoo Phillip Premier League final between arch rivals
Mon Repos and South Castries. Officiating at what
is expected to be an entertaining encounter between the two
sides are former cricketers and now umpires Francis Maurice
and Denis Ryan.
On
Sunday 13th of July 2008, martial artistes from all over St.
Lucia gathered at the National Cultural Centre to participate
in what is called Best of the Best II 2008 Martial Arts Championship.
This event, another brainchild of Sensei Benny Chitolie,
Chairman of the Association of Professional Martial Artists,
President of the St. Lucia Karate Federation,
St.Lucia
Athletics Association has selected a three member delegation
to represent the island at the North America, Central America
and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Track and Field Championship
to be held in Mexico. The three day Championship
started on Friday 18th and will run until Sunday 20th July
2008.
Former
national athlete and experienced St.Lucia female referee Sabina
Charles is set to become the first female from the island
of St.Lucia to officiate in a major football tournament under
the CONCACAF banner when she steps unto the playing area in
Trinidad and Tobago between 17th and 26th of July 2008. Charles,
a member of the St.Lucia National Referee’s Association,
