ST. LUCIA NATIONAL YOUTH CHOIR begins its season of summer
concerts this coming weekend with a performance at the St
Lucia School of Music on Saturday evening and a performance
in Anse La Raye on Sunday. The choir’s 2008
summer concert is entitled “MANY VOICES, ONE SONG –
A Rainbow of Choral Style”

Calls on LUCELEC for Concessions
Prime
Minister Stephenson King has called on St. Lucia’s sole
electricity company (LUCELEC) to assist consumers by giving
them concessions. “I believe that this time
LUCELEC must come forward and give some concessions, particularly
under the legislation which guarantees them a profit regardless.

Girl Testifies In Murder Trial
Unusually
there was a heavy police presence on Monday for the trial
of a man accused of murdering a Trinidadian body guard in
July 2006 which began before presiding High Court Judge Kenneth
Benjamin. The alleged fatal shooting is said to have
taken place on the road near Sandy Beach Vieux Fort. The main
witness in the case, a British woman began by testifying,

of you may have seen the romantic comedy movie ‘The
Wedding Planner’ starring Matthew Mc Conaughey and Jennifer
Lopez released in 2001. The movie is about a hired
wedding planner that ends up falling in love with the intended
groom. While the movie gives some insight into some of the
duties of a wedding planner, for Miss Digicel this movie ignited

Interconnection
Regulations For Review
The
revision of interconnection regulations will be among the
major issues for discussion when the Board of Directors of
the Eastern Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) meets in
Saint Lucia on Thursday July 10th 2008. The Board
will discuss the draft regulations prior to submission to
the ECTEL Council of Ministers for final approval later this
month. 
New
banana company undertakes fact finding mission
The
Banana Production Management Unit (BPMU) is at present focusing
on formulating a data base, containing information on pertinent
industry facts. This includes the number of persons
currently planting bananas for sale and the total acreage
still under production. Gregory Avril, Programme Manager of
the BPMU, which replaces the Banana Emergency Recovery Unit,

Forensic
Report on Road Works Laid Before Parliament
A
report, parts of which were leaked to the media last month
and which seeks to take to task the former administration
of Dr. Kenny Anthony, has finally been laid before Parliament.
The forensic report or Special Audit Report, as it is called,
charged the former administration of gross mismanagement,
major incompetence and over expenditure,
