Kids Treated to C&W Movie Special
One
hundred and eighty students and thirty teachers from six schools
around St Lucia were treated to an exciting day at the movies
on Friday courtesy of Cable & Wireless. In a
partnership arrangement with Caribbean Cinemas Cable &
Wireless provided all the students and the teachers with free
tickets for a private screening of the Disney movie Wall-E.

last Tuesday presented a number of cheques to some of this
year’s participants in Carnival 2kgreat. The
recipients included the five Calypso Finalists from the Ambassadors
Tent and the NG Soca Stage finalists who will compete in the
Groovy and Power Soca Monarch competitions.

before last was Regional Testing Day for HIV/AIDS and scores
of people throughout the Eastern Caribbean took up the opportunity
to determine their personal status on the dreaded disease.

crowned Kaiso Queen
Even
though she was bestowed a huge trophy instead of a crown,
Kasha Christophe, a.k.a KC reigned supreme at the Peter &
Company Ltd’s Kaiso in the Yard. The latter
took place July 4th Friday at PCL Cul de Sac and proved to
be an ideal after work lime despite the slight showers. Rocking
the jamming crowd first was KC with her song ‘Teach
them’ 
Dennery
Great in 2008
Carnival
2kGreat has hit the country by storm and the weekend limes
are plenty and well spread out. Last weekend Dennery seemed
to have been floating on a sea of excitement and good booze.
After a wild party at the Dennery Multipurpose Center
on July 4th, which lasted well into the next day, the parade
of the bands was a definite not to be missed.

welcomes election of sister-party in Grenada
The
Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has welcomed the election victory
of its sister party in Grenada and says the new government
it forms will have a challenging task in the current regional
and global dispensation. Opposition Leader Dr Kenny
D. Anthony, who is also Political Leader of the SLP, saluted
its sister-party,

and Miss Marigot
Denver
Prophet and Krishna Louis were crowned Mister and Miss Marigot
on Friday July 4th at the Marigot Secondary School Pageant.
Amidst the noisy cheering, the Prophet and Louis
alongside fellow contestants, five males and five females
in all, were judged on their talent, sports wear, professional
wear and of course their response to a question and answer
segment.
