FINALISTS
Hundreds
of fans crammed the National Cultural Centre last Sunday afternoon
as eighteen semifinalists sought to earn a spot in the Big
Yard come July 19. Defending Calypso monarch, Minelle,
set things off by performing her “Don’t Want To
Be King” which went down well with the fans.

On
the recommendation of Cable & Wireless, the Marian Home
for the elderly has been awarded a grant of US$1,000 by the
Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA)
as part of its 2008 Community Charities Program. Cable
& Wireless is a member of the CCTA. The Marian Home was
chosen as a grant recipient,

Thursday afternoon the four day trial of Anne Marie Justin
accused or murdering William Andrew ended when a jury of twelve
returned a verdict. The Director of Public Prosecutions
Victoria Charles-Clarke had claimed that Justin, in her forties
had murdered William in February 2003 because William then
aged seventy two was paying other women to have sex,

Emphasizes Tourism
At
the 19th Inter-Session Meeting of the Heads of Government
in March 2008 in Nassau, Bahamas, Rt. Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham,
Prime Minister of the Bahamas and Chairman of the
Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community
(CARICOM) reportedly told the media at that press conference:

American
Int’l Medical University Refutes Allegations
The
American International Medical University has reacted to allegations
made by a former student who claimed that her brief stay there
was not conducive to learning. The university, located
at Beausejour, Gros Islet, in the building formerly known
as The Zone, became the target of a CNN report in India nearly
a month ago.
