CENTRE OPENS
The
St. Lucia Taekwondo Federation (SLTF), an Olympic Martial
Art organization, enjoyed a formal opening for its’
new home, “The Taekwondo Training Center and
Carellie Gym” in Carellie on the corner of Apricot Lane
Sunday June 29, 2008. The colorful and beautifully decorated
hall held a crowd of over 100 mainly specially invited guests,

Inaugural Optimist Championships 2008 a Success
Last
weekend saw the start of the Inaugural Open “Optimist”
sailing championships for juveniles of the St. Lucia Sailing
Training programme. The event an open one, meant
thatgirls and boys could compete against each other in a non-restrictive
way. Benjamin Todd the senior sailing coach and Teresa Aylott
the junior coach arranged the event,

Qualification for Local Shotokan’s
Two
members of the Technical Committee of the St. Lucia Shotokan
Karate Association Patrick Edward and Danielle Devaux returned
home last week after participating in the International Shotokan
Karate Federation’s 42nd Masters Camp in mid June 2008,
at Camp Green Lane, in Philadelphia PA. USA. Master Camp,
the ISKF’s premiere and largest annual event,

running out on 38th Carifta Games set for St.Lucia
Well
time is fastly running out and it’s less than a year
remaining for what is expected to be a “party in the
in our own backyard”. That’s perhaps
the best way to describe what next year’s Carifta Games
is gonna be like for the many St. Lucia Track and Field fans.
And without a doubt many pundits will ask the question why?

Sporting Events on Stream
The
OECS Sports Desk in St.Lucia is tapping its shoulder upon
reaching the half way stage for this year’s sports calendar
of activities. David Peterkin Sports Coordinator
at the OECS Secretariat at Morne Fortune said, a number of
the sub-region top athletes to date have performed exceptionally
well at events plan by the various national federations in
the sub region.
