Eight
contestants will participate in the national carnival queen
pageant for Carnival 2Kgr8. The pageant will take place on
Friday July 11 at the Gaiety on Rodney Bay from 8 PM.
The eight young ladies are Elizabeth James Miss St. Lucia
Tourist Board, Cassandra Lamontagne Miss HTS, Kathy David
Miss Renwick and Company,
On
the recommendation of Cable & Wireless, the Marian Home
for the elderly has been awarded a grant of US$1,000 by the
Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA)
as part of its 2008 Community Charities Program. Cable
& Wireless is a member of the CCTA. The Marian Home was
chosen as a grant recipient,

Thursday an elderly man stood before Justice Kenneth Benjamin
accused of having sex with a young girl. The alleged incident
was said to have taken place five years ago on 13th February
2003! The matter had finally reached the High court
and the elderly man was all set for his trial. Lawyer Stanley
Felix represented him.

Competition, now in its second year, was held in St. Vincent
and the Grenadines on June 21st at the Aquatic Club in Villa.
WOW! What a show it was, the large crowd which turned out
was to be a precursor of things to come. The crowd of over
1000 persons from all ages,
