feting all weekend (St Peter’s Day celebration coupled
with Dennery Fish Fiesta). Just looking around at
the faces of children and adults alike, no one appeared the

The

the time this is read, Robert Mugabe would have proceeded
with his farcical election for the Presidency of Zimbabwe
and been declared winner by the Elections Commission he controls,
despite the UN Secretary-General’s call for
a deferment of the election, and the condemnation by the Security
Council, including South Africa, of the violence and intimidation
that characterised it.

the St. Lucian Iguana - An endangered species!
St
Lucia was known to the original Arawak inhabitants on the
island as Iouanalao (pronounced Iyanola) - The Land of the
Iguana. The St Lucian Iguana is the largest native
land animal on the island, representing a unique population
of this species found on no other island. Despite this, it
is a very rarely seen animal, and little is known of its lifestyle
and habits.

group of JICA/JOCV Volunteers to the island. These
three individuals will be the 17th group of JICA/JOCV Volunteers
to be dispatched to the country via the commitment of service

Cooperation Agency – programme,
