We
will never know what regrets lay in John Compton’s mind
when he passed on. We know he’d once confided
in a self-proclaimed nemesis, his wish for the ultimate glory
of dying in office and iron-willed hardhat that he was, he
executed his wish for a state funeral down to the final mystery:
was his body inside the gleaming mahogany casket draped in
the national colours,

The
aim of this paper is to discuss the new provisions in the
Criminal Code (ss.909 and 912), as they relate to an accused
person’s right to silence. The following remarks
shall be prefaced by the assertion, that justice has two sides
– fairness to the defence as well as to the prosecution.

These
days when we use the term politician to the general populace,
most people turn up their noses in dismay; it is unfortunate
that the world of politics has taken a turn for the worse.
But alas, we can only blame the politicians for this.
The sweet words, false gestures, and promises that are not
kept seem to rule over morals, principles, loyalty and honour.
