The
names are in and the date February 16th 2008. That’s
when St. Lucians from all walks of life will finally know
who will cop the top sports awards for 2007. At a
press conference held Monday 21st January at the Department
of Youth and Sports the nominees were revealed and now await
final judgment by the competent persons who will tabulate
the scoring for the big night.
It’s
Babonneau Secondary under 16 football team to the Grand Final
of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource, Social Transformation
Youth and Sports Secondary School Football Tournament as they
await their opponent in the Soufriere Comprehensive and George
Charles match up scheduled for today January 24th 2008,
St.
Lucia swimming sensational 14 year old Siona Huxley set a
new National Record in the women’s 50 Metres Backstroke
with a blistering 32.44 seconds to remove 0.66 seconds off
the previous record held by her. Siona swam these
long course times (in a 50 Meter pool) at the Martinique Credit
Mutual swim meet held over the weekend 19th to 20th January
2007.
The
St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association will on Saturday 26th
January 2008 commence a series of Developmental Clinics for
its officials at the Rodney Height Aquatics Center. According
to a spokesman of the SLASA, Saturday’s Developmental
session will seek to improve the standard of locally organized
swim meets under the auspices of the SLASA,
