Taiwan’s
President, H.E. Chen Shui-bian left St. Lucia yesterday following
a two day state visit in which he strengthened his country’s
relationship with St. Lucia following months in which Taiwan
has worked closely with the Government and people of St. Lucia
in developing areas like education, agriculture, sports and
the like in St. Lucia.

The
Executive of the Vieux Fort South Constituency branch of the
United Workers Party has thrown their support behind Prime
Minister Stephenson King, making it clear it is their
intention to introduce a resolution seeking support of delegates
to allow the party’s political leader King to continue
unchallenged in his present position. The move by the executive
comes amid reports, 
FRASER
coming before Privy Council
Leonard
Ogilvy, the African lawyer who was deported from St. Lucia
last March spoke to The VOICE yesterday and noted that he
is watching the Horace Fraser case coming up soon at the Privy
Council, probably this month, to see how the court would rule
in the matter. Fraser’s case has similarities
to Ogilvy’s case. In the Fraser case a High Court Judge
ruled,

prepares for Conference of Delegates
The
St. Lucia Labour Party is preparing for two major events in
the second month of 2008. The party will be holding
its annual conference of delegates in the north and south
of the island this February. The first leg of the conference
will be the closed session to be held at the Gros-Islet Primary
School on Sunday February 3rd from 10:30AM.
