It defines, inter alia, the rights of citizens and the responsibilities
of the state to guarantee those rights. In this regard,
the right to life, which is arguably the most significant
right of every citizen, is enshrined in Chapter 1, Section
2 of the current constitution. In its current formulation,

The
licensing inspector walked into the Bar, introduced himself
to the owner and, having stated the purpose for his visit,
politely enquired if they could sit down at a quiet table
to allow him the opportunity to explain what a copyright licence
was and why one was needed for such an establishment.

Prime
Minister, the Honourable Stephenson King, gave his considerable
support to an initiative by the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards
(SLBS) to treat the children of the Bisee community. As
part of its corporate social responsibility, each year at
Christmas the SLBS makes a donation to the less privileged.
This time around, the SLBS decided to expand,
Bahamas
and Caricom: potentially good business
The
Bahamas has an “odd-man-out” relationship with
the Caribbean Community and Common Market (Caricom). It
is a member of the Caribbean Community, but not the Common
Market. The Bahamas has also opted not to participate in Caricom’s
Single Market - a process that is steadily developing among
other member states.
