the Ministry of Education, Human Resource, Social Transformation,
Youth and Sports on Sunday 17th February stage the annual
Independence Track and Field Championships at the George Odlum
National Stadium. A number of Secondary Schools and
Clubs affiliated to the SLAA,

The
St. Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding Association is in the process
of staging the coveted Champion of Champions Bodybuilding
Classics slated for Sunday 2nd March 2008 at the National
Cultural Centre from 7:00 pm. The SLABBA is extremely
grateful to be associated with Courts St. Lucia who are the
sole sponsors of the Championships,

Ping Pong Championships served off Last Evening
The
St. Lucia National Table Tennis Association served off its
annual Independence Championships last evening and continuing
through Saturday 1st March 2008 at it’s Vide Boutielle
Table Tennis Center opposite the Castries Comprehensive Secondary
School. This year’s Championships will also
see a competitive table tennis competition,

John Remembered
The
St. Lucia Yacht club celebrates the 29th Anniversary of St.
Lucia Independence Day by remembering the late Sir. John Compton
in a revised version of the old Prime Minister’s Cup.
This new version will be known as the “Sir John Compton
Memorial Trophy” and will be raced for annually in an
open yacht division to the neighbouring French Island of Martinique.

St. Lucia Moto X Club will today Saturday February 23rd continue
its celebration of St. Lucia 29th Independence Anniversary
with another of its exciting and thrilling pieces of entertainment,
when it stages another in a series of races at its
new found venue in Cul Du Sac. Since its inception seventeen
years ago, the St. Lucia Moto X Club has established a reputation,

Wins Volleyball opener
The
annual Schools Volleyball Tournament spiked off on Tuesday
19th February 2008 at the Vigie Multi Purpose Sports Complex
with no fanfare whatsoever, as St. Joseph’s Convent
played Bocage Secondary in the Tournament opener.
Information on the Tournament reached this media house two
hours before the official opening of the Tournament,

Lucia’s number one Volleyball team the Le Club Volleyball
Club, one of the longest standing sports clubs on the island,
has a current membership averaging between the ages of 14
– 35 years. The Club believes in a well –
rounded, holistic approach to positive self-development and
encourages its members to always aim for higher education
and advancement.
