ISLET FIRE
Officials
from the Royal St Lucia Fire Service are still to confirm
what caused the fire which razed two wooden houses to the
ground and severely scorched another built of wall and wood.
On Sunday February 10, 2008 at approximately 2:56am
the Fire department received a call for assistance. A wooden
structure on Chapel Street in Gros Islet was ablaze and burning
fast.

Prime
Minister Stephenson King was on Sunday nominated unopposed
for the position of political leader of the United Workers
Party, as was generally expected following Housing Minister
Richard Frederick’s announcement last Friday not to
contest the position. But the Prime Minister’s
uncontested position for leadership of the party was not the
surprising factor, 
Murder
Cases Dominate High Court Sitting
The
first criminal sitting of the High Court for the year which
is now on is contending with eight murder cases, one of the
highest the court has ever experienced in one sitting in recent
times. Sex related cases are also high in number
which includes four cases of rape and one attempted rape.
Thirty-three cases are done for hearing comprising an assorted
list of crimes ranging from stealing,

The
Royal St. Lucia Police Force is offering a reward of fifteen
thousand dollars ($15,000 EC) , for information leading to
the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) involved in
the homicide of Laurent Moynaton, former chef of the Coal
Pot Restaurant, Vigie, Castries. Moynaton was shot
outside the restaurant about 11:20pm on Monday the 4th of
December 2006. 
Death
On A Highway
Three
men have died as a result of a deadly head-on collision on
Friday afternoon. The accident which occurred on
the Richfond Dennery Highway claimed the lives of Bruno Marriatt
(30) Chester Smith (29) and Benjamin Fontenelle (27), all
residents of the community of Saltibus Choiseul. According
to reports, the vehicle which was registered to one Camillus
Severin,
