CONTROVERSY
The
controversy regarding the erecting of a private home within
the Pitons Management Area took a new twist earlier this week.
At a press conference summoned last Thursday by Minister for
Physical Planning, Housing, Urban Renewal, Local Government
and the Environment, Hon. Richard Frederick, the minister
used the occasion to add a new dimension,

Calls for DCA resignation
A
call has been made for the resignation of the Board of the
Development Control Authority as questions are being asked
and answers demanded regarding the construction of a building
in the Piton Management Area – a construction
that appears not to have had the blessings of the Authority.
That construction, which was brought to the attention of the
public,

to US meets President
On
Monday, July 28, 2008, His Excellency Dr. Michael Louis presented
to the President of the United States of America, The
Honourable George W. Bush, the Letters of Credence accrediting
him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saint
Lucia to the United States of America. The newly appointed

School
teachers on the island will be at work on Monday for the start
of the new school year, something which they were unsure of
earlier this week because of stalled he gotiations over salaries
with government, however their attendance on Monday
must not be read to mean that all is well as they have given
government until next Friday, 
Venezuela
comes to the assistance of Saint Lucians
The
governments of Saint Lucia and Venezuela on Wednesday August
27th 2008, met to discuss among other things an offer from
Venezuala of low cost housing units to Saint Lucia as well
as the provision of technical scholarships to Saint Lucian
students. The meeting also explored the possibility
of yearly student exchange visits.
