future development, advancement and enhancement of St. Lucian
calypso nationally, regionally and extra-regionally, demands
that the artistes give particularly serious consideration
to getting together and functioning as a body that aggressively
represents and promotes the developmental interests of the
art-form, all year round.

The
University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus began its
first ever registration of students this week. The
newest Campus of the University of the West Indies, the Open
Campus incorporates 52 education centres from across the region,
extending from Belize in the north to Trinidad and Tobago
in the south. Thousands of students from these countries are
registering online,

students are beginning the new school year with LUCELEC scholarships.
Of these, three are new entrants into the LUCELEC
Scholarship Programme, having performed creditably in the
Common Entrance examinations. The other 19 are continuing
in the programme and are attending various schools in classes
ranging from Form 2 to second year at the Sir Arthur Lewis
Community College.
The
introduction of free universal secondary education in St.
Lucia is a development which offers hope for the future of
the nation in many directions. This coupled with
other developments of years gone by have certainly brought
a large number of the population within reach of an education
which was denied their forefathers. It is, however,
‘A

above is a textbook definition of a paralegal which though
technically correct does not necessarily reflect the real
life working experience of every paralegal. There is much
