may have come as a surprise to many Saint Lucians on knowing,
either last week or this week, that Prime Minister Stephenson
King signed an agreement with three other Caribbean countries
to achieve economic integration by 2011 (three years from
now) and political integration by 2013 (five years from now).
Former
Prime Minister of St Lucia and past Director General of the
Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Vaughan Lewis
has supported the move to strengthen ties between Trinidad
and three OECS members. Trinidad and OECS members
St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada agreed
on the weekend to form a political union by 2013.
