THE
29TH OLYMPIAD
The
opening ceremony of 29th Summer Olympic Games took place in
Beijing, China in front of 91,000 people who attended the
ceremony at the newly built Bird Nest Stadium as further billons
from around the globe watched on Television. Sports
enthusiasts in St. Lucia were no exception as thousands sat
glued to their television sets, 
Port
Police Officer Charged
A
27-year-old Port Police officer was this week charged with
handling stolen goods. The officer, Nadina Mathurin,
originally from New Dock Road, Vieux Fort, but now residing
in La Clery, was charged when she appeared in court last Thursday.
Mathurin pleaded not guilty and bail was granted at EC$1000
and/ or suitable surety or land documents.

fellowshipped with the congregation of the Holy Trinity Anglican
Church in Castries on Sunday. On Thursday Directors and Members
journeyed to Soufriere to attend a Business Luncheon Meeting

The
compound of the St Lucia Air and sea Ports Authority was unusually
alive with activity on Wednesday afternoon. Where
the regular uniformed Port authority police officers would
be posted, two Special Services officers stood guard rifle
in hand waiting as if for the slightest representation of
a breach of security. Firemen performed their fire drill,
