This
weekend the attention of the whole world will be turned to
Beijing and the opening of the Olympic games. It
is a time when every nation large and small will be hoping
and praying that one of their athletes bring them pride and
joy by excelling at these games. Even those who may not have
supported their athletes in any meaningful way will somehow
overlook their negligence,

from being a notorious bandit who was sentenced to eighteen
years in prison to becoming a Bishop. Williams claimed
to have seen the light of Jesus and he was here to do the

International
Day Of The World’s Indigenous People
The
United Nations General Assembly in 1994 proclaimed 9th August
the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.
That was three years after the State of Saint Lucia,
through the inclusion of disaggregated data in the 1991 National
Population Census, officially recognized the Indigenous People
of Saint Lucia. The fundamental motivation of the United Nations,

is Challenged on Freedom of the Press and Human Rights Abuses
President
Bush admonishes China on its Human Rights abuses and the Freedom
of the press. He is reported to have said that “we speak
out for a free press, freedom of assembly and Labour rights.
Not to antagonize China’s leaders but because
trusting its people with greater freedom is the only way for
China to develop its full potential”.

If
rumours and rumblings from within Government circles and investors
are correct Prime Minister Stephenson King needs to remain
grounded for a minimum of fourteen days, place on
his thinking cap and get very serious over the fact that his
responsibility is not to his Cabinet of Ministers only and
securing his own position as Prime Minister. 
Disgrace
at Rodney Bay
Driving
through the Rodney Bay area today, we had to pause and eventually
stop to believe our eyes. As a visitor to St Lucia
in the midst of a fine touristic area with hotels, banks,
high class offices and top class restaurants, I was shocked
to notice a decrepit bar with two suspicious characters badly
clad washing cars on the roadside and a sign duly planted,
