July-at-the- University of the West Indies programme based
at the Mona Campus, began in 1997 as part of the Office of
Administration’s International Programmes. This
programme is designed for children between the ages of eleven
(11) and seventeen (17) years and runs for a period of three
(3) weeks. It is a period of enrichment,

Bay Beach Resort & Spa hosted the 1st FINA Learn To Swim
Clinic in St Lucia. The clinic coordinated by The
St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA) in conjunction
with the Southern Flying Fish Swim Club (SFF) is the first
for St Lucia and what is hoped to be an annual event on the
calendar of activities for SLASA.

late Parry Jones Husbands started his career as a School Teacher
at the R.C.Boys’ School in Vieux-Fort. From
there he was transferred to the Castries Methodist School
under Teacher Alix Walcott. After a few years there, he moved
to St. Mary’s College where some past students remember
he taught them History, French, Maths etc.

HC Visits the SLBWA
The
Australian High Commissioner is in St Lucia to initiate the
Direct Aid Program (DAP) in St Lucia. He visited
the St Lucia Blind Welfare Association on August 6, 2008.
According to H.E. Mr. Philip Kentwell, (High Commissioner)
he was on the island “to provide assistance to the Blind
Welfare Association in a very small way,” and with the
blessings of Prime Minister Stephenson King,

Helps Boys Training Centre
C&W
has donated an HP Compaq laptop to the Boys Training Centre
to help the teachers at the Centre with their educational
program for the youths housed at the facility. C&W
is also providing the Centre with free broadband service.
Manager of the Boys Training Centre, Cyrus Faulkner expressed
his appreciation for the laptop and said it would be a great
help,

Giving for KiddiCrew Summer Fun Games
Sunday
August 10th, 2008 is Prize Giving Day for the 2008 KiddiCrew
Summer Fun programme, “Let the Games Begin”! Teams
competed daily during the two week programme which began on
Monday July 28th and ended Friday August 8th and included
exciting activities such as Sand Castle building, Mural designing,
a photography hike, Fun Sports,

Commander the organization held a country theme banquet on

Under
the theme ‘Are you ready for the college experience?’
the purpose of the forum was to guide new students on financial
management whilst at school and prepare them for the experience
away from the sheltered environment of home. It was
very well attended by some 65 students who will be commencing
school locally and abroad in September of this year.

College Summer Youth Clinic for the third consecutive year.
The clinic which ran for a period of two weeks targeted
children ages 5 to 13 and engaged them in various sporting
disciplines. As part of the activities in
the programme the children were treated to a tour of the Financial
