talks crash in Geneva
To
many of us who have been closely following the current WTO
mini-ministerial talks, its eventual collapse in Geneva on
July 29th after a breakneck nine days of intense talks came
as no surprise. The WTO was dangerously close to
sealing a historic deal but the deadlock over the unfair trade
subsidies of countries like the US resulted in complete collapse,

holds 12th General Assembly this weekend

Saint Lucia National Youth Council (NYC) will be holding its
Twelfth (12th) General Assembly from Friday, August 8 to Sunday,
August 10, 2008 at the Piaye Secondary School in the district

Brian Bernard Memorial Lecture on Monday 11th August from
7.00 p.m. The Lecture which will be held at the Conference

Recently,
newly appointed Minister for Home Affairs the Hon. Guy Mayers
made public his plans to find alternative measures to discipline
police officers of the Royal St Lucia Police Force. According
to Mayers, police officers were rarely disciplined for breach
of discipline. His suggestion to rehire retired police officers,
though readily accepted by some,
