Rotaract
Anniversary
This
year from March 7 to 13 Rotaractors worldwide
celebrate the 42nd anniversary since the founding
of the Rotaract movement.
The first Rotaract club chartered was the Rotaract
Club of North Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
on March 13 1968.
Decades later, this Rotary ‘service programme’
has grown into a strong international network
of over 6,400 clubs with 145,000 members in
over 170 countries.
Rotaract, a branch of the Rotary International
family, is an international community service
organisation for young men & women aged
18 - 30 that fosters leadership and responsible
citizenship, encourages high ethical standards
in business and promotes involvement in the
global community.
Rotaract clubs organise a variety of service
projects and professional & leadership development
activities.
St. Lucia is part of District 7030 which spans
from St. Kitts in the north to Suriname &
French Guiana in the south. There are 34 active
clubs in this district with 2 active Rotaract
clubs in St. Lucia, namely Rotaract Club of
St. Lucia & Rotaract Club of St. Lucia South,
with a total membership of 32. The Rotaract
Clubs are sponsored by parent Rotary Clubs,
Rotary Club of St. Lucia & Rotary Club of
St. Lucia South respectively. Meetings are held
on Thursdays at the Central Library from 6:30
and the South club’s meetings are at the
Laborie Boys Primary on Tuesdays from 6:00.
