St. Lucia’s
Very Own Benjamin Moore
By Sherlana Ernest

”I
am very satisfied with the quality and performance
of Benjamin Moore. It is the brand I recommend!”
were the words of fifteen year professional
painter, John Baptiste. Who or rather, what
is Benjamin Moore? Simply put, the best thing,
in terms of paints and stains of course.
Technical Consultant at the newly opened, and
freshly painted, Benjamin Moore Signature Paint
Store, Basil Mayers, beamed with excitement
as he spoke to The VOICE about the Benjamin
Moore brand and some of its effective and popular
products.
Namely the Green Certified products (also known
as the Green Promise Paints) are EC$100 per
gallon and can now be purchased at the Benjamin
Moore Signature Paint Store on the John Compton
Highway at Colony House.
“The Green Certified is of course environmentally
friendly,” explained Mayers. “It
is known, and well-liked, for the fact that
it is nearly odorless. It is true that a room
can be used one hour after it has been painted.
Also, it has an added advantage of more coverage
with the use of less paint. This paint gives
400-450 square feet per gallon. Most other paints
don’t give you that.
“What we have discovered from the painters,
locally, is that every five gallons used is
equivalent to seven gallons of another brand
of paint. We have customers saving thousands
of dollars. The quality and durability is in
the paint. It is true that EC$100 seems like
a lot to pay for a gallon of paint. Yet, when
you look at the coverage and quality you get
it is actually more economical, because in the
long-run you’ll be saved from having to
spend more.” |

Mayers
went on to say that, “In February of
this year, we officially opened a Benjamin
Moore Signature Paint Store; however, from
September last year we had already commenced
selling the paints.” The feedback from
local painters and other clients has been
nothing but good and another store, Mayers
said, will soon be opened in Vieux Fort. St.
Lucia is the first of the OECS countries to
successfully open a Benjamin Moore Signature
Store.
“We have satisfied; or rather we have
gone beyond what was expected of us in terms
of sales and customer satisfaction,”
Technical Consultant Mayers stated. “We
are very grateful to the local businesses
that have been there since the inception,
and these businesses, they know themselves,
were a big help as they encouraged and pushed
for the opening of the Benjamin Moore Signature
Paint Store.”
