Bank of
Saint Lucia Stays with Youth and Environment
As
the Saint Lucia National Trust launches the
second year of its Youth Environment Forum,
it can count on the continued support of one
of its corporate partners, Bank of Saint Lucia.
The bank has once again donated $5000.00 to
the Trust as part of its three-year commitment
to the Forum which began in 2009.
At the press launch held on July 15th at the
Government Information Service, Bank of Saint
Lucia’s Assistant Manager for Corporate
Communications, Ayodele Hippolyte, reiterated
the bank’s concern for both the youth
and the environment. Therefore, this initiative
by the Trust provided the perfect opportunity
for Bank of Saint Lucia to be involved in both
areas in a meaningful way. Ms Hippolyte also
said that the bank was proud to be a partner
in the hosting of such a worthwhile activity
for the island’s youth.

This
year, the Youth Environment Forum is being
hosted under the theme ‘Many Species,
One Planet, One Future’. Over one hundred
students from primary and secondary schools
across the island are expected to participate
in the two-week exercise which comprises lectures,
presentations and field trips. The aim of
the Forum is to educate participants on environmental
issues so that they can become advocates for
the environment in their schools, homes and
communities. Chairman of the Trust, Dr. Gregor
Williams, who also addressed the launch, emphasized
the need for young people to get involved
in the critical issues that affect their society
and the environment was clearly a key one.
The Saint Lucia National Trust Youth Environment
Forum begins on July 26 at the RC Boys Primary
School in Castries.
