A Pilgrimage To The Holy Land

We shall be visiting LONDON, EGYPT, JORDAN, ISRAEL (see below). The total cost is $US 4,300 all inclusive.
TOUR QUOTATION INCLUDES:
AIR TRANSPORTATION/RULES - Round trip economy class jet airfare with British Airways.
LUGGAGE 1 bag per person plus a carry on – This may change by departure time...
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS - Hotels featured in this tour are first class, semi – deluxe or kibbutz. All rooms are twin bedded with private bath and the tour price is based on two people sharing one room. Anyone occupying a room as a single will be charged a single supplement. The judgment pertaining to the classification of hotels reflects only the opinion of the tour operator as to comparative desirability.
TRANSFERS - Transportation of passengers and luggage is provided on arrival and departure from airports to and from hotels and is included in the tour cost when traveling with the main tour party.
SIGHTSEEING - As described in this brochure, via air-conditioned motor coach with English speaking, government licensed guides. Entrance fees per the itinerary are included.
MEALS - Breakfast and dinner daily in hotels.
DOCUMENTS - Each passenger must possess a valid passport.
INCLUDED - Hotel service charges and taxes levied by hotels and governments, tips for baggage porters at hotels and airports for the group as a whole, tips for the tour guides, drivers, hotel waiters.
INSURANCE Emergency health, lost baggage, tour interruptions.

NOV 11 THU DEPART
Depart Trinidad or St. Lucia on your transatlantic journey.
NOV 12 FRI ARRIVE IN LONDON/HALF DAY SITES/FLIGHT TO CAIRO
Upon arrival in Cairo you will be met and transferred to your hotel for overnight.
NOV 13 SAT GIZA/SPHINX/CAIRO AND MUSEUM
See the Pyramids of Giza including “The Great Pyramid,” built by Pharoah Cheops about 2690 B.C. You may climb up inside the pyramid to the King’s Chamber. View the other two pyramids and the Sphinx. Visit the Egyptian Archeological Museum with its Pharaonic Treasures dating back 5,000 years and the exhibit of Tut-Ankh-Amon displaying most of the treasures found in his burial tomb. Visit the Ben Ezra synagogue and the Coptic Orthodox church of St. Sergius where the Flight of the Holy Family to Egypt is remembered. Stroll through the famous Cairo Bazaar before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight (time permitting)

NOV 14 SUN
CAIRO/MT. SINAI
Depart Cairo and travel through the Sinai desert. See the Bedouin living as the children of Israel did when they crossed the desert through this area to the Promised Land. Visit Moses Spring. Arrive at Mt. Sinai for dinner and overnight.
NOV 15 MON
CLIMB MT. SINAI/ ST.CATHERINE’S MONASTERY/FERRY TO AQUABA/PETRA
Arise early for an awe-inspiring climb up Mt. Sinai. Upon your descent visit St. Catherine’s monastery, built in the 12th century as a monastery castle to defend the monks. You will have a tour through the entire ancient monastery. Visit the 12th century library and the Greek orthodox chapel as well as the burial cellar for the monks where skeletons have been collected through many generations. After your tour departs for Taba, a ferry will be taken to Aquaba, Jordan. Upon arrival, you will be met, helped through customs and transferred to Petra for dinner and overnight

NOV 16 TUE
PETRA/MT. NEBO/MEDABA/AMMAN
Visit the “Red City half as old as time”. From Wadi Moussa, travel on foot or horseback through a narrow gorge in the Nubian sandstone and arrive abruptly at the outstanding Red Rose City with the Treasury before you. Visit the Nabateans’ Tomb, Temples and dwellings which were hewn from the surrounding rock formations of multicolored stones. Petra was one of the most important caravan centers during Biblical times. It was lost to the world for over 500 years until rediscovered in the year 1812. Then to Mt. Nebo for a wondrous view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Historians believe Moses’ tomb lies in this region. Continue to Medaba with its Byzantine mosaics - including the oldest map of the Holy Land. The town dates to 2000 BC. Proceed to Amman for dinner and overnight.
NOV 17 WED
AMMAN/JERASH/BETH SHEAN BRIDGE/ISRAEL
Depart Amman for Jerash and tour the best preserved example of Roman civilization known as the “Pompeii of the East,” with its triple-arched gateway built in AD 129 to honor the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Visit the temples, baths, colonnaded streets and Plazas. Cross the border to Israel where you will be met and assisted through customs. Onto Bet Shean, the site of the hanging of Saul and his sons. Proceed to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

 
 

NOV 18 THU TIBERIAS/BOAT RIDE ON SEA OF GALILEE/MT. BEATITUDES
CAPERNAUM TABHA/ PRIMACY OF PETER / KORAZIM, KURSI
We begin our day on the Mt. of Beatitudes as we celebrate mass in the lovely chapel on the hill.(we will make reservation for 8:30 am with Franciscan church office. We sail across the Sea of Galilee and go to Kibbutz Nof Ginossar to view the 2000 year old Jesus Boat. Continue to Tabgha, the site of the miracle of the Loaves and Fish, to Mensa Peter John 21, the Table of the Lord and to Capernaum -.the home town of Jesus North to Korazin and Kursi where Jesus healed the demon possessed man. Return to Tiberius for dinner and overnight.

NOV 19 FRI TABOR, CANA, NAZARETH, VALLEY OF ARMAGEDDON

We ascend by private taxi to Mt. Tabor to celebrate mass (we will make reservation for 10:00 am), the site of the Transfiguration for Mass and Communion. Returning through Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle of water and wine andonto Nazareth, the place of His childhood, visiting the Church of the Annunciation and the Synagogue Church. Visit Nazareth Village, the reconstruction of what the village of Nazareth might have been like in Jesus’ time. Time permitting we will continue to the Valley of Armageddon. See the excavation, King Ahab’s water tunnel, and King Solomon’s stables. Return to Tiberius for dinner and overnight.

NOV 20 SAT TIBERIAS/HAIFA/MUHRAKA/CAESAREA/JAFFA/JERUSALEM

Cross the lower Galilean Mountains on your way the top of Mt. Carmel to visit the Carmelite Monastery of Muhraka to celebrate mass (We will make reservations with the Franciscan church office for 10:00am) where the Prophet Elijah fought with the Prophets of Ba’al. Then along the Sharon Valley to Caesarea to visit the Roman theatre and Crusader castle. Visit the ancient port of Jaffa and the house of Simon the Tanner where Peter stayed. Go up to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

NOV 21 SUN OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM

Drive to the Mt. of Olives for a breathtaking view of the Old City. Descending down the Palm Sunday Path to the Tear Drop Church where we celebrate mass (We will make reservations with the Franciscan office for 10:00) then Gethsemane and visit the Church of All Nations. Onto to Mt. Zion to Peter of
Gallicantu. Continue to the Upper Room, David’s Tomb and down to the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight

NOV 22 MON JERUSALEM/QUMRAN/DEAD SEA/EIN GEDI

MASSADA/JERUSALEM
Drive south to the shores of the Dead Sea and see Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Continue to the oasis of Ein Gedi on your way to Massada where you will take a cable car up to the fortress. Here the defenders held out for three years against the Roman Army and then committed suicide rather then be taken into slavery. “Massada shall not fall again” is the oath taken by cadets who graduate from Israel’s military academy. Upon your descent return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

NOV 23 TUE VIA DELOROSA, HOLY SEPULCHRE, BETHLEHEM

Early morning we carry the cross (We will make reservations with the Franciscan Church office to have the cross waiting for us at st. Stephen’s (Lion’s Gate at 7:30 AM). From St. Stephens Gate we proceed down the Via Dolorosa, stopping at the 14 Stations of the Cross, with a cross provided by the Franciscan Authority. We proceed up to Calvary to the Holy Sepulcher Church for Mass and Communion. See the site of the Crucifixion and Mt. Calvary. From the Christian quarter of the Old City we continue out to Jaffa Gate. This afternoon we visit Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity.

NOV 24 WED FREE IN JERUSALEM/AFTERNOON FLIGHT TO LONDON

Enjoy this morning to explore and shop in Jerusalem. Transfer to the airport in the early afternoon for our flight to London. We will arrive in the evening and will be met and transferred to our hotel for overnight.

NOV 25 THU DEPART LONDON/ARRIVE ST. LUCIA AND PORT OF SPAIN.

Depart London for home with memories of our many experiences in the Lands of the Bible.
