Yasmine St. Ange Leads N. Windwards In Super 50 Cricket

Following the national women’s cricket team’s two nil win over Dominica in a three match series, St. Lucia’s Yasmine St. Ange has won favour with the selectors and will captain the Northern Windward Islands team, in this years regional 50 over competition.

In the matches played the St.Lucian women made light work of the home team in Game No.1 winning by 203 runs. Batting first St.Lucia scored a massive 292 for the loss of 5 wickets. Fourteen year old Quina Joseph top scored with 94, while Swayline William 66, Nerissa Crafton 33 and Roylin Cooper 23.

The Dominicans found the chase an uphill battle as they were bowled out for 89 runs with Anika Andrew top scoring with 35.

Bowling for St .Lucia Captain St. Ange picked up 2 for 8, Nerissa Crafton 2 for 6, and Paulina Francis 2 for 14.

In Game No.2, Dominica won the toss and elected to bat and went on to score 107 all out with Stacey Adrien top scoring 17, Kaymiah Jones 11 and Bianyka Abraham 10 not out, and extras totalling 44.

Bowling for St.Lucia William took 3 for 18, and Yasmine St.Ange 2 for 17.

However, Cooper’s inspiring knock of 23 not out ably supported by captain St. Ange (17), led St. Lucia team to a comfortable victory; scoring 109 for 6.

Game No. 3 was abandoned due to the inclement weather at Portsmouth.

Following the series St.Lucia gained ten players on the Northern Windward Island Team which will be participating in the Super 50 Regional Tournament scheduled to bowl off on Monday August 3.

The reserves – SolangeAubert (St.Lucia), Joslyn Ferrol and Bianyka Abraham (Dominica).

The team will be under the watchful eyes of Head Coach Samuel Kirnon and former West Indies female cricketer Eugena Gregg as Team Manager.
