A two day workshop was held last weekend by the Saint Lucia Carnival Bands Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Industries on the topic of “Mas Adjudication”.
A group of persons interested in judging the King and Queen of the Bands, Junior Carnival and the Parade of the Bands competitions came together to be enlightened about the components of the adjudication process.
The facilitators of the workshop were Trinidadians Mr. David Lopez, President of the National Carnival Bands Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NCBA) and Mrs. Ingrid Rahim-Foster, who is the Senior Co-ordinator of the NCBA adjudication committee.
The accomplishments of the workshop included a knowledge representation scheme to support the skills required for the Judging Process and Procedures, Ethics in Adjudication and the Analysis of Scoring Data, a Repository of Linguistic Clues relevant for the analysis of costumes craftsmanship.
