St. Lucia Dominates ECVA Volleyball

ST. LUCIA defeated Antigua & Barbuda in the final series to dominate the ECVA Men’s BVB Olympic Qualifier, part of the NORCECA Continental Cup that concluded on Sunday.

St. Lucia conquered the event claiming first place, unbeaten, after three intense days of competition.

In the Gold Medal series, Agustin Faulkner and Coen Caesar of St. Lucia-A defeated Constant and Yoshid Augiste of Antigua-B in straight sets 21-14, 21-8, while Sheldon Descartes/Darnel Eudoxie of St. Lucia-B prevailed over Jamarie James/Collin Thomas of Antigua-A with great effort of 2-1 (14-21, 21-17, 15-9).

“We had morning and evening practise to prepare mostly for the weather conditions; our tactics made the difference to conquer the tournament” said Faulkner on Sunday.

Eudoxie added: “We came out to win and expected a challenge; we trained hard and especially today, we played our best not to lose today’s first series against Antigua & Barbuda. It feels good to win, our hard work definitely paid off”.

The podium was completed by Antigua & Barbuda and St. Kitts & Nevis in second and third places respectively. These three teams, joined by Dominica, Dutch St. Maarten and St. Vincent complete the six teams representing ECVA for the next round of the NORCECA Continental Cup.

Final Positions: 1. St. Lucia 2. Antigua and Barbuda 3. St. Kitts and Nevis 4. Dominica 5. St. Vincent 6. Dutch St. Marteen 7. Grenada 8. French St. Martin 9. British Virgin Islands 10. Anguilla 11. Bermuda.
